Appointments – The Barefoot Osteo, Warrnambool

What to Expect

No surprises.
Just a clear first step.

Before your first appointment, here’s what to expect: how appointments work, what to wear, what fees look like, and what happens when you arrive. You’ll know the basics before you walk through the door.

What to expect

Your first appointment starts with the story, not the sore spot.

An initial appointment includes a case history, physical assessment, hands-on osteopathic treatment where appropriate, and a clear explanation of what we find.

What changed. What keeps stirring it up. What you’ve already tried. Then we assess how your body moves, loads, protects, and compensates. After that, treatment makes more sense.

The full method is on our How We Work page.

Follow-up appointments

Follow-ups are where the pattern gets tested.

Follow-up appointments review how your body has responded, whether the plan is holding, and what needs to change next.

01

If the pattern is changing, we keep building.

02

If it isn’t, we course-correct.

Usually, within the first few appointments, we want to see signs that your body is starting to adapt.

Fees and rebates

Fees should be clear before you confirm.

Current appointment fees are shown in the online booking system before you confirm your appointment.

Private health rebates may be available depending on your fund and level of cover. We use Tyro Health to process private health claims on the spot. If osteopathy is part of your extras cover, claiming is usually straightforward.

Medicare rebates may be available under a Chronic Condition Management Plan (CCM Plan), arranged through your GP before your appointment.

What if my fund won’t claim onsite?

A few health funds can’t be processed onsite through Tyro Health. If yours is one of them, you’ll receive an invoice and can submit it to your fund online or in person to receive your rebate.

Before you arrive

Comfort beats presentation here.

Wear comfortable clothing that lets you move easily while staying fully clothed.

If you have scans, reports, referral letters, or a current CCM Plan, bring them with you.

Appointment planning

The honest answer is: it depends.

The number of appointments depends on your history, presentation, goals, and how your body responds to care.

Some people only need a few appointments. Others need a longer plan. Usually, within the first few appointments, we want to see signs the pattern is starting to change. Then we make informed decisions moving forward.

Quick questions

Things people want to know before they book.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly without a referral. If you have a Chronic Condition Management Plan from your GP, bring the relevant paperwork with you.

Can I claim private health?

Private health rebates may be available if your policy includes osteopathy. We use Tyro Health to process claims where possible — some funds process onsite, others need claiming online after your appointment.

Will I be treated at the first appointment?

In most cases, yes. Assessment comes first, then hands-on treatment is usually included. If treatment isn’t suitable on the day, we’ll explain why and discuss the next step.

Do I have to take my clothes off?

No. Assessment and treatment are usually done while you stay fully clothed. Wear something comfortable that lets you move easily.

What should I bring?

Bring any relevant scans, reports, referral letters, or GP paperwork if you have them. If not, that’s fine — we can still start with your history and assessment.

What appointment type should I choose?

Choose the appointment type that best matches your situation in the online booking system. If unsure, book the closest option — we’ll clarify anything needed at your appointment.

What if I’m not sure osteopathy is right for me?

That’s okay. You don’t need to know exactly what you need before you book. The first step is an assessment, a clearer explanation, and a plan that makes sense from there.
